Nomad Home Kabul

A family of 130 members, each devoted to art, craftsmanship, and design as a way of life. We breathe art, we feel craftsmanship, and we create design to bring joy to others.

Rugs are our greatest obsession. We weave endlessly, but it’s the knots that truly satisfy us especially when they’re made from the rarest Hindu Kush wool and tied one by one into hundreds of thousands of knots. But let’s not exaggerate: this satisfaction belongs mostly to our artists, many of whom have been creating rugs for decades.

Some members of our family haven’t even completed their second decade in rug-making yet. Yes, they have cried over their rugs more than once but that is exactly the moment they are sent to the weaving department for training.

We don’t only bring warmth to floors. our work brings life and colour to tables as well. Each glass piece is shaped by breath, formed by hand, and coloured with the finest pigments, including the world’s first blue: Lapis Lazuli.

Our glass is crafted in collaboration with the last traditional glassblowers of Afghanistan, who practice the exact techniques used 2,000 years ago. If you don’t believe it, ask the Corning Museum of Glass whether we are indeed among the last to work this way or ask the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York why they presented our work in 2018.

Yes, we travel 2,000 years back in time with every piece we make.
